Two families of MTU models are absent from most parts websites: the Series 1600 platform introduced after 2013 (6R, 8V, 10V and 12V, 122/150 mm bore and stroke), and the newer F-build models of Series 2000 and 4000 (G16F, G26F, G34F, B26F and the like). Both are in growing service, and enquiries for them arrive with a model code and a nameplate — not with a part number.

This page publishes the verified model coverage: codes, layouts, applications, cooling types and published ratings. Part-number lists for these builds are confirmed line by line against supplier data, so every section ends in a sourcing check rather than an invented parts list.

Model codes and ratings are from MTU’s published product data and independent packager tables. Ratings vary by frequency, altitude, temperature, and set configuration — the engine nameplate always governs. The site’s indexed catalog data currently covers Series 183, Series 396, Series 538, Series 595, Series 956, Series 1163, Series 2000, Series 4000.

Series 1600 — published model coverage

Series 1600 is MTU’s current mid-range platform: 6R, 8V, 10V and 12-cylinder configurations, 122/150 mm bore and stroke, 1.75 L per cylinder, rated up to 1,800–2,100 rpm. The 12-cylinder displaces 21.0 L and the reference R50 marine unit produces 690 kW (925 bhp) at 1,900 rpm. G-codes are generator-set ratings; the F suffix marks air charge-air cooling and S marks water charge-air cooling.

Power steps shown for the 12-cylinder genset models are MTU’s published 60 Hz figures (prime, standby, continuous and data-centre ratings). Six-, eight- and ten-cylinder variants are published in G10/G20/G40/G50 steps with F (air-cooled charge air) and S (water-cooled charge air) suffixes; confirm the exact step from the nameplate.

Series 2000 & 4000 — newer F-build models

MTU continues to publish new genset builds on the 2000 and 4000 platforms. The F-build models below appear in MTU’s current 60 Hz product line; the site’s indexed catalog data does not yet carry applicableEngines references for them, so they are listed here for identification and sourcing rather than as indexed parts lists.

How a Series 1600 enquiry is handled

Enquiries for these builds are quoted line by line, in three steps — the same verification sequence used across this site:

01 — Evidence

You send the complete model code, engine serial number, and your parts list (or photos of the components and installation positions). We read the build, cooling type, and rating variant from that evidence.

02 — Verification

Each line is checked against supplier data for the exact build: availability, grade (genuine new, factory exchange, OEM-quality alternative), and whether a reference is superseded. Nothing is inferred from a series name.

03 — Quotation

You receive line-by-line availability, grade, and practical shipping options from Shanghai — with a clear note where a line cannot be confirmed, instead of a generic catalog reply.

Series 1600 & F-Build FAQ

Why does this page not list part numbers for Series 1600?

Our indexed catalog data currently covers Series 183, Series 396, Series 538, Series 595, Series 956, Series 1163, Series 2000, Series 4000 — the model codes above are published MTU references, verified against the manufacturer’s public product data, but the 1600-series part-number lists are not yet in the index. Rather than publish an unverified list, we quote Series 1600 line by line: send the model code, serial number, and your parts list, and we confirm each reference against supplier data before quoting.

What is the difference between the F and S suffixes on 1600 genset models?

F marks air charge-air cooling (radiator-mounted, jacket-cooled intercooler is absent) and S marks water charge-air cooling in MTU’s published product data. The suffix changes the charge-air piping, coolant circuit, and several adjacent parts, so the complete model code from the nameplate is required before any reference is confirmed.

Is Series 1600 a replacement for Series 2000?

No. Series 1600 is a separate platform (122/150 mm bore/stroke, 21.0 L total displacement on the 12-cylinder) that sits alongside Series 2000 in the MTU range, with different architecture, ratings, and parts. Sets built on 1600 engines usually enter service from 2013 onward; Series 2000 engines remain in the fleet in much larger numbers. Both need their own model code for identification.

Can you supply parts for an engine whose model is on this page but not in your index?

Yes — that is what the page is for. Send the complete model code, serial number, and the part numbers or photos of what you need. We check each line against current supplier data and come back with availability, grade (genuine new, exchange, OEM-quality alternative), and practical shipping options. Absence from the index never establishes unavailability.

Quote this part type: Series 1600 and newer F-build enquiries are quoted line by line. Include the complete model code, serial number, and your parts list — or photos of the components and installation positions.
