About X00040012 - Speed Sensor
Published catalog details are identification references. They do not establish current stock, supplied condition, or confirmed fitment for your engine.
X00040012 is a speed sensor catalogued for MTU 4000 engines. The catalog unit weight is 0.122 kg, which we use to estimate freight before quoting.
Technical Notes: Sensors and electrical
Pressure, temperature, speed, and level sensors feed the engine governor and safety system. A faulty sensor can trigger alarms, power reduction, or a shutdown even when the engine itself is healthy, which is why sensors are among the most frequently ordered emergency parts.
Series 4000 engines rely on an electronic engine governor, so sensor faults are logged and can lead to power reduction. Fault codes help narrow down which sensor to order.
When This Type of Part Is Usually Replaced
- a sensor reading is implausible compared with a test gauge or neighbouring engines
- an alarm or shutdown is logged but the measured value is normal
- connector damage, corrosion, or broken wiring is found at the sensor
Checks Before Ordering
- Thread type, connector style, and measuring range must match; similar-looking sensors are often not interchangeable
- Newer replacement numbers may require a different connector or cable, which should be confirmed before ordering
- Check the wiring and connector before replacing the sensor itself
Engine Catalog References
MTU 4000
Engine-series references do not confirm every installation. Final fitment of X00040012 depends on the full engine serial number and assembly position.
Usually Ordered with Speed Sensor
Sensors are refitted with new sealing rings, and the wiring is checked at the same time. These MTU 4000 references are commonly checked in the same job; each still needs its own fitment check.
